-You should have bought the bag- I said to Trish when we were browsing out local Question Air boutique looking for a small black bag for her. I didn’t have to say which bag.
Trish knew full well I was talking about an exquisite, Rupert Sanderson number we saw at Bicester Village in March. For whatever reason she talked herself out of buying it. Since then “you should have bought the bag” became synonymous with “I told you so”. Well, what can I say, life is short so buy the clothes.
That made me remember the things I dreamed of yet never got. The one that got away- or three in my case:
- St Lauren leather motorcycle trousers. I saw them at Bicester Village. They were bad girl’s pants. Beautifully cut, with padding on the knees and some strategically placed zips. I telephoned a few days later to check if they were still there. The manager put them on hold for me. Disaster ensued in the changing room. One size was to small- in the knees. So according to St Laurent I have fat knees. I checked seize up and they were rather roomy in the waist. I sat in the changing room for a while, refusing to accept I was going to leave the shop without them. I often thought I should have taken the seize bigger and have them altered. On the other hand, getting them would probably spell the end of this blog because I would have probably never, ever wore another bottoms again.
- Burberry trench- it was waiting for me at Pandora, my favourite dress agency. You couldn’t get more classic than that. Not only it was my seize but the price was hovering around £100. I’m not sure why I didn’t get it but it still haunts me. I sometimes imagine myself wearing it, sleeves pushed up, with beaten leather boots and denim shorts.
- Celine handbag- again at Pandora. This time the sensible side of me won. The bag was cream and made of lizard skin. I went to the shop three times but ultimately decided it was a collector’s item. It was a bag that needed to be loved and I tend to toss mine on the floor. Still, a girl can dream 🙂
So that’s my list, what’s yours?
