I used to see them in Vogue, those grown up, sophisticated pieces. Austere, paired back elegance, blink and you miss it but then you wouldn’t miss a woman wearing them. There she is on a photograph, quietly confident, her face chiseled by shadows and light. Perhaps you won’t remember what she was wearing but you will remember her.
I longed for those pieces yet they always eluded me. Where do they come from? How to put them together? In some ways, a rock chic look seemed much easier what with Zadig et Voltaire look book being your cheat sheet.
And then I came across Joseph. Sure, I knew the brand- some of my beloved cashmere jumpers were bought there. Yet I’ve always dismissed their “other” clothes as simply not for me. Until I bought this top. A perfect piece, a day to night multitasker it became my go to item for all occasions. On the photos I’m wearing it with a pair of Levis but it looks beautiful, too paired with my Isabel Marant tapered trousers and Rupert Sanderson taupe heels.
Someone bans me from Selfridges before I plunder the entire Jospeh boutique. I’m already a proud owner of their tuxedo suit and you should see their suede dover grey culottes…
