Most of you will be celebrating Valentine’s Day in some way, perhaps dinner in a restaurant or a quiet evening at home for just you two. If you are thinking about what to drink at that occasion I have a suggestion for this year below – but go ahead and have a look on my posts from previous years (links here & here). I believe that this is an evening where you should share stuff: eat from the same platter – seafood is best but not exclusively, share a bottle of bubbly, and of course if that’s on the menu share the bed!
If you fancy sharing a bottle of bubbly I can help but I’ll leave the rest to you…
Ruinart Rosè Nv
Its my choice Champagne for Valentines this year. I believe it’s in the top 10 of the most elegant and sophisticated Rosè Champagnes on the market. I know it’s pricey – it’s coming at a whopping £60 price tag but this is a once a year occasion and it’s worth it. At opposite side of spectrum from its more famous friend Laurent-Perrier Rosè this rose champ is very dry and a much deeper colour. This is a full-bodied bubbly with big and easily detectable red berry aromas of redcurrant, cherry and cranberry, but with slightly less of the rose scent, and endless toast and berry flavoured finish. The mousse is beautiful, creating tight foam of tiny pinkish bubbles, rather tingling your palate than scraping your nose. Very, very fine and classy Champagne.
Spread the love on 14th February!
