It’s funny how things resurface if you let them. When I was a little girl, my dad used to take hundreds of photos of my sister and me. Of course he had a film camera (Leica, I think) and used to develop his own photos. A lot of them bear light leaks and dust specs, and are incredible evocative and moody. I love riffling through them, boxes and boxes of memories.
Later on my dad sold his camera. We grew up, life became busy and there was a career to be had. For years he’d only take holiday snaps and photos of family gathering. But when you love something, it will eventually come back the surface and so a few years ago he bought a digital camera, learned to use it fro the Internet and he was off. What you see today is a result of our May photoshoot. Sometimes I think he missed his calling 🙂
There is something about black and white photos isn’t it? There seem to be so much emotion in them and the colours don’t distract from the subject. I think they have a soul.
It was cold that day so I was wearing a tuxedo and I think on couple of photos I’m wearing slightly oversized, men’s inside jacket. And white shirt of course, one of my favourite items of all times. So easy to wear, so elegant yet nonchalant, so affordable. You can never go wrong with it.
My dad laughed when I said I was looking at old Minolta camera. In my dreams I was already shooting on film with most wonderful results 🙂 Dreams! I need to learn to shoot manual first but who knows, after all I have my dad genes 🙂
