Sometimes when I look at my Instagram feed, I feel like I’m one of a very small group of women who hasn’t got tattooed eyebrows, cooked foundation a la Kim Kardashian or fake eyelashes. Either that or I haven’t found my make up tribe yet. That’s why I was so happy to have come across Toni Garrn (I’ve no idea how she was not on my radar until now), who often prefers natural make up and on most days even use mascara!
Some time ago Trish and I decided to watch a tutorial by a famous make up vlogger, and recreate the look ourselves. Dozens of beauty products and some two hours later I realised that I would rather stay with my own, low maintenance routine. I must say I looked nice (if I may say so myself) but kind of the same like hundreds of girls on Instagram. I decided that my imperfect make up suits me far more that the intricate one.
My skin is for me a centre point of my make up and the way it looks really depends on what I eat. No highlighter can replace the inner glow which is a result of eating tonnes of vegetables every day. Thanks to my diet, I am able to skip foundation and just use a drop of Bobbi Brown BB Cream on my nose and chin. I use a taupe eyeshadow from Dior palette Dream on the eyelids, in the eye sockets and on the lower lashes. A lovely Polish girl in Dior boutique in Covent Garden showed me how to use bronzer to sculpt the face (I have to admit that I’m guilty of overusing a bronzer)- it goes on the outer edges of your face, under the cheekbones (under your chin) as if you were drawing C with the bronzer brush.
I finish of with Dior Colour Revival 006 in Berry, which enhances my natural lip colour. A drop of my favourite perfume and I’m ready. I may even have time go for a walk before work 🙂
