Looking at the photos in Trish’s and my posts, you would be forgiven for thinking that we attended two different parties. Trish went all American and got excited about pumpkin lanterns and cobwebs artfully decorating the mantelpiece (and let’s not forget about her delicious Halloween cocktails), while I was thinking about creating darkness and shadows, inspired by the 1922 ‘Nosferatu’ movie.
But how do you toe the line between looking like you’ve just escaped from the fancy dress shop (which is probably exactly what’s happened) and cheating, and zipping straight to Selfridges for full blown glamour and glitz?
Having completely run out of steam by the time it came to choosing my costume, I’m going to have to admit to cheating here – my silk dress from Shanghai Tang was bought for a “Casino Royal” themed party and really had nothing to do with the brooding mood of silent movies.
Trish, however, nailed the look perfectly. In a Tara Jarmon dress and jewel earrings, she was the stylish heroine of our own Nosferatu in London.
