If you ask any successful entrepreneur why did they start their own business, there’s really only one answer. It’s not the money (although of course ultimately we are all in business to make money) or fame or even hating your boss. The answer is this- because if I didn’t do it, I would regret it for the rest of my life.
And on this note- girls, meet Sashenka, my new brainchild.
I wasn’t sure I wanted to talk about it yet because I was worried I would jinx it. But then I thought that it would be good to feel accountable to someone. To you. I’m very scared venturing like this into the unknown. The truth is, I’d almost tried it a few years ago but at the end I pulled back. I still don’t know whether I should have gone for it then or whether it didn’t happen for a reason. But even today I keep wandering where would I be had I started when I wanted, five years ago.
I’m starting very small, road testing this handbag you see on the photos. Ultimately, I’d love to do clothes, too, not high fashion but beautiful and affordable basics like a perfect cashmere coat (why does all cashmere coats cost upwards £2,000?) or beautifully cut cashmere jumper. I’m not selling anything yet although I’m laying the groundwork. I’ll soon soon test other designs. You may not hear about Sashenka from me for a while but when you do, I hope it’ll be something I’m proud of.
