-Five- I said to myself eyeing up a pair of cowboy boots- you have five pairs already. Just saying.
It was Saturday morning and I ended up in Peckam coffee shop/vintage boutique, Fat Boy Peckham, browsing a small but expertly hand picked selection. That was where I spotted a pair of classic, silver and turquoise adorned pair of classic cowboy boots. Because, you know, that’s how we roll in Texas…
I’m not quite sure where exactly this obsession of mine came from. I’d like to think that’s because Texas has always been on my go to list. Just thinking about it evokes a feeling of total freedom. But maybe I’m just coming up with a theory to a very simple fact- I’ve been watching too many Chanel catwalk shows where Karl de Genius paired cowboy boots with long skirts and tweed jackets. Which is probably the most plausible explanation.
Today I paired my St Laurent suede boots with distressed denim shorts and a silk shirt. I’m quite late to the party with my denim shorts but up until last week I couldn’t find a pair I dreamed of. You know, a bit overseized, a bit distressed, preferably by Levis.
So, the cowboy boots.. Done right and they look a bit Chanel, a little ironic and very very cool. Done wrong and we all know where this is heading. I hope you’ll tell me in time.
