Countdown to H&M x Balmain is almost over and the collection will go on sale on Thursday, 5th November. As I write it I sit at my desk, pondering whether or not to clear my diary on Thursday morning. I haven’t quite decided yet if I’m going to be waking up at 4am. Will you?

What do you think of the collection? I must admit that I’m coveting all the men’s pieces, wishing I could deck myself out in that fabulous jumpsuit or that olive military coat with brass buttons. Or the leather pants. Or green suede sneakers. Or…

I have mixed feelings about women’s pieces. I love the intricate beading, the “Balmain” shoulders and glam mini dresses. I love them all. Would I wear it? That’s another story.

Two years ago I went crazy for Isabel Marant collection. I didn’t manage to get my hands on the overseized jacket or the boots but everything else I wanted did land in my bag. Two years on I can honestly say that:

@ The leather pants were the BEST.BUY.EVER.  They slotted into my wardrobe seamlessly and I wear them over and over again. They are cool and elegant, my fall back piece.

@ Grey and maroon sweatshirts were a waste of money. I don’t wear sweatshirts, it’s just not my style even if I think Isabel Marant looks great in hers, paired with leather pants and heels. Mine are languishing in my closet, waiting for an inspiration to strike. So far it hasn’t yet.

@ Silk top you see on the photos and a ruffled mini skirt (you saw it in Dating a Frenchman- a quick guide) were also a wonderful buy. I wear them together and separately, with denim or leather pants, grey tee or cashmere jumper. The possibilities are endless.

@ Black dress. One question- why? Why did I think it was a good idea to spend money on a dress I was never going to wear? (you saw it in Upstairs at the party) Putting it away came with an acceptance that I am not of long and lanky limbs like Lou Doillon and will never look as good as her in that dress. Did I mentioned that I’m sometimes delusional?

So after a careful consideration of the collection, I think that if- and that’s a big if, I do venture to the shops on Thurssday, I will be looking at very specific pieces:

@ Leather pants- I’ve coveted Balmain leather pants for eternity but dropping over a grand on them it’s still a quite foreign concept for me. H&M biker pants with do just nicely

@ Olive green t-shirt- from men’s collection. Classic.

@ White tuxedo. I love the cut and the glamour associated with a white tux. The only thing is, I would have to have it dry cleaned after very use. Because we all agree that white can be worn only once, right? Right?

There are also couple of coats, a leather biker and  a pair suede boots that I feel like they would be good pieces to have. Only- I know full well what happens to the clothes I’m not necessary crazy about. I get maroon reminder every time I open my wardrobe.

Will you be queuing up on Thursday? If so- what pieces do you covet?
