I’ve always wanted to put together a wardrobe where every piece  works together whilst looking utterly effortless.

Yet for years I used to buy just random stuff without mentally checking if the clothes went together with my existing wardrobe. The result was a closet full of disjointed pieces and my growing resentment- how was it that I spend all money on clothes (if there was a toss between clothes and food, I’d of course choose clothes) yet I didn’t have clearly defined style and often looked like I’ve tried too hard.

Until it clicked. I decided to regroup and reasess what looked good on me and what I was naturally drawn to (often not the same thing with me!) and reach a compromise.

A year on and I finally know where I’m going with it. It takes time to build a perfect wardrobe and I’m nowhere near yet but all existing pieces fit together like Lego parts. I don’t have to think about “outfits” the way I used to before. I simply pick the first thing from my (virtual) pile and I’m done. If that’s not effortless I don’t know what is.

I’m wearing

Trousers Ralph Lauren
