“Painting is just another way of keeping a diary” said Picasso and we cannot agree more. We think that the same applies to photographs and we are happy to share our diary with you. We are young (relatively), glamorous (so we say) girls about town. We have been friends for twenty years and share a passion for champagne, fashion and all things fabulous.
How did our journey start? Well, read on…
July 2001, London. Two girls explore the streets of London, wide eyed with amazement. The magnitude of the city is almost overwhelming but there is something compelling in the atmosphere. We think about it and finally agree..it’s the freedom. No staring eyes. Instead there are crazy and fabulous journeys through the city of night lights. The summer will be good, we agree. In the sweltering heat a new world opens up for us.
14 years later…still in London. Two girls (ahem) crack open a bottle of champagne. Hurray! Seconds later a fountain of Perrier-Jouët sprays nearly drowning the laptop! …oops…
So, how did we get to this point? Well, the last ten years was a testament to the expression “work hard, play hard”. There were experiences, both good and bad, travel, men, romance, love, money and glamorous places. In the process Trish gained vast experience in wine, both drinking it, selling, writing about it and discovering its stories..(and there are a lot).
Here’s what she says:
Trish: I spent the last 10 yeas working in the wine industry, 4 of which as a sommelier for one of Covent Garden’s acclaimed restaurants. I love everything about wine, drinking it, selling it, reading and talking about it. Last year I came up with the idea of writing about wine and sharing my knowledge with other women. Why women? Well, in the last 5 years of working as a wine merchant I realised that the industry is still very much male dominated. I also noticed that women are much more shy about talking about wine or experimenting with buying it. They are, however, no less adventurous. I would like to help women to find out what is worth buying without using traditional “wine talk”. There are some beautiful wines on the market, unknown gems and small glamorous champagne houses, and all at a bottle for the same price as a pair of sandals in TK Maxx. How many times have you stood in front of the wine shelf with no idea what to buy, what to take with you to a dinner party or what to serve to your guests? We are here to help you unearth some real beauties on budget.
But wine and champagne don’t exist in a vacuum. We drink it to celebrate life events and Friday nights out. When drunk in moderation there can be a glamour to it. Its not only what you drink but how you do it. If you want to do it in style, what you wear and where you go matters too.
And this is where Ana, the original champagne girl has something to say…
Ana: How qualified am I to talk about fashion and glamour? Well, I’ve come to realise that you don’t need anyone’s permission to talk about what you love in life. But it’s easier to draw on experience and mine has been a pretty crazy ride. From London to Miami, Paris to California via Montenegro and the moody Balkans, there were a whirlwind of glamorous locations, fast cars, interesting men, beautiful clothes, love and a spy story thrown into the mix. Interested? We invite you to join us on our journey through London, the vineyards of France and all the other cool places we been to. We will share with you our stories, fashion finds and inspirations. We would also love to hear from you so please feel free to drop us a email on:
