There comes a point in a girl’s life where she’s assembled her personal #squad. But not as you know it. An accountant (yawn), a business coach, a great assistant- that’s her professional life sorted. But there’s also a different crew altogether. Beauty enablers and fashion accomplices, she calls on them to make her look and feel good.

In no particular order, here are my three partners in crime:

A hairdresser

Perhaps I have innate radar for spotting talent? Louis and I hit it off immediately.

We meet for a coffee. “I’m thinking rich, minky, sophisticated” or “How about cream and vanilla” followed by Instagram photos for references.

He translates my vision into something modern and as we get one stage closer to a result I’m after, he makes it look effortless. Last summer I strayed when he’d gone to Florida and he saw the results Instagram. “Why are you bright blonde again for no reason” he demanded before (successfully) attempting to limit the damage to what we’ve achieved so far.

He thinks he may move abroad at some point. “It’s OK- I say” I’ll just have to fly you to London to do my hair”. And how utterly glamorous would be that? 😉

A Beauty therapist

I’ve been vocal about wonders of Face Gym treatments for me but once I had a face massage by Iuliana (a therapist and trainer at Face Gym) my talent radar begun blipping uncontrollably.

Fast forward a few months and we are sitting in Le Pain Quotidien in East London and Iuliana tells me about her beauty world (you can read the interview here) and what a world it is. Our new series, monthly Beauty by Iuliana, is born.

I’ve been seeing her twice a months recently and my face is looking better than two years ago- you could compare my face in Blonde is a state of mind. This is an achievement and comes courtesy of heavy artillery of anti-aging knowledge, something that fluffy facials (lovely as they are) would never be able to achieve. Isn’t there something reassuring about having your own beauty therapist?

A tailor

Maybe you know exactly what you want or maybe you are wandering though a landscape of current trends, a good tailor can realize your wild fashion fantasies or simply alter the clothes to fit you for a more expensive look.

I’ve known mine for a decade now and she’s taken on some challenges at my behest- you’ve seen her coats often on this site. It’s incredibly satisfying, having your very own, unique collection that cannot be bought on the high street. Sometimes I dream something up and the level of details on which I can’t compromise means that the only option is to go couture. And who could say no to that?

Great outfit – these boots are insane, totally next level!:)
Agree with your topic though, a hairdresser is a must in my case!

Sounds nice to have one hair dresser you really like.
I have never been to the same hair dresser twice. I always change my hair by impulse :p

Great post! I’m so happy you mentioned a tailor. I’ve been telling my girlfriends how important one is! Now it looks like I need to be on the hunt for a beauty therapist. Thanks for the tips!
