I’ve had many style crushes over the years, from Kate Moss to Charlotte Gainsbourg, and most recently Maja Wyh. But no matter how far I wander, I always come back to the same sets of photos of Emmanuelle Alt. Alt in Milan, Alt after a fashion, Alt in Paris; always looking super simple yet utterly epic.
Isn’t it ironic that in the era when celebrities and fashion icons showcase their colourful style and outfits on social media, thousands of us crave simplicity and consistency, which is exactly what Alt’s style is all about. I’ve poured over countless Pintrests boards dedicated to her style and her formula for fabulousness seems to be very simple- trousers, shirt, oversized jacket (this is where she really goes to town) and a low heel. And of course high cheekbones and lossy hair thrown in the mix.
My outfit today was inspired by one of her photos taken during Milan Fashion Week in 2011. She was wearing Balmain double breasted jacket, jeans and Isabel Marant shoes. Need I say she looked fabulous?
My jacket is not Balmain and my jeans and tee are from Zara. I was very lucky to find these shoes for a fraction (truly a fraction) of the original price. And that’s what I love about her style- you don’t need a ton of money to emulate it. A pair of skinnies and shirt with rolled up sleeves and you’re there.
