Sometimes little dreams do come true… at least one of mine did last week, when I finally had an opportunity to visit Ridgeview Winery – one of the best producers of ‘British champagne’. I had wanted to visit Ridgeview for years, ever since I first tried their Bloomsbury NV.
The winery and its surrounding vineyards are in a picturesque part of the South Downs of Sussex (amazing views!), planted on the south facing slopes north of Ditchling.
The Ridgeview house grows their own grapes used in their sparkling wines, which gives them full control over every stage of the wine making process and allows them to maintain fantastic quality with high ethical standards. Planted among the vine rows are scented roses and other sweet smelling flowers to attract blackfly away from the vines
By doing this they can reduce the amount of chemicals used while the aesthetic value is just pure bonus! The whole place is super high-tech, shining with stainless still equipment and efficiency.
But of course the best part of any vinery tour is the tasting! For that Ridgeview is definitely worth a visit!
