MY LONDON FASHION WEEK

When beautiful Rita from Lily Ravas Agency (we met in Paris in March, it sounds rather romantic but we actually met at the fashion show :)) messaged me to ask if I wanted to go with her to Fridays and Saturdays shows during London Fashion Week, I jumped at the chance. Who wouldn’t?

I didn’t have any outfits planned so I jumped on a tube for a quick visit to Topshop where I picked a vinyl & sequins skirt. I had an eye on it since I first saw it and I wanted to pair it with my St Lauren lipstick print shirt and new Ba&Sh shoes. But I wasn’t happy with the pairing- there was somethng wrong about it yet I couldn’t put my finger on what it was. Two more changes and I found the winner, a Breton top and my Isabel Marant jacket.

After a couple of shows on Friday, Paul Costello in Le Meridien and a show at undergroudn parking lot, where the entrance was via a vinyl record shop no less and where the live band was wearing the designer’s garb, we were off to Svarovski party.

Saturday started at 10:00 for me with Jasper Conran show. I was convinced the show was to start at 11:00 so I was having a leisurely morning coffee when I decided to look at the invite again. Eeek! Uber to the rescue. I arrived with 15 minutes to spare. I wore my J Brand leather pants, the same Isabel Marant jacket and man’s white shirt unbuttoned to a barely decent degree. As my Ba&Sh shoes ate me alive the night before, I put on my Gucci loafers.

The queues! They were everywhere! But I didn’t mind that much because I was busy looking at what other girls were wearing (well, mostly girls).  London has always been a rebelious child of fashion but it seems that it grew up a bit. Gone were the crazy outfits, mostly worn to have one’s photo taken. I think some photographers used to swoop on everyone who was wearing fishnet tights on their head (I’m exaggerating but you know what I mean). I think now they are more clued up as to who’s who so incentive to wear very excentric clothes was mostly gone. There were a few people of course but they stood out like a sore thumb.

In term of outfits, Vetements’ effect was very clear. There was A LOT of high waisted, cropped denim denim and overseized shirts with undone cufs. There was also quite a lot of flats (Gucci loafers galore!). There were quite a lot of slip dresses, too, paired with tshirts and denim jackets and off the shoulder tops. So basically the usual suspects of current season.

So what about next summer fashion then,  you may ask. Well, the photos I’ve taken don’t do the shows justice but I loved the simple, clean shapes and…flats! there was lots of white, too. Like, lots and lots of it.

Overall, it was a really cool experience and I loved every mnute of it. Thanks Rita for the invites!
